The gateway is the correct start for a state sentence. It cannot establish that someone bonded out of Bertie–Martin Regional Jail because local jail episodes are outside NCDAC.

NCDAC Martin Projected Release Dates
A projected release date is an estimate tied to the state sentence and record. NCDAC says it can change with work or program assignments, transfer, discipline, program completion, resentencing, a vacated judgment, a change in law, limits-of-confinement action, or parole action. A projected date is not proof that release occurred. The actual episode must later show the executed prison departure and any supervision stage.
North Carolina does not use a generic rule that every current felony offender serves 85 percent. Under G.S. 15A-1340.13(d), a Structured Sentencing felony offender with active punishment serves the judicial minimum. Earned time can reduce the maximum but not below that minimum, with court-ordered jail credit applied. G.S. 15A-836 calls for a projected date calculated as exactly as possible for qualifying victim notices, including applicable earned-time and disciplinary credits.
When a displayed date conflicts with a court paper or an older notice, compare the offender detail and contact NCDAC. The agency performs the state computation. A county jail, court clerk, or private source should not recalculate and publish a substitute date.

Separate Martin Custody Systems
NCDAC is the correct system only when a state prison or state supervision episode exists.
