Information You Submit
Search Terms
A name, location, or other detail entered into a search box is sent to the third-party provider that operates that search. Martin County Released Inmates does not store or log those query terms on its own systems. The provider may collect and use the submission under its separate policy, so review that provider’s terms before searching.
Messages Sent to Us
If you email us or use a contact form, we retain the message and the contact details you provide so we can answer. We do not share a message outside our organization unless doing so is required by law. Do not send sensitive custody, medical, financial, or identity documents through a general message.
Technical Data Collected Automatically
Like most websites, our systems may receive routine technical details when a page loads. These records help deliver the site, diagnose errors, and understand broad traffic patterns. The details may include:
- Your Internet Protocol address;
- Browser name and version;
- Device category and operating system;
- Pages viewed and time spent on them;
- The referring website, when supplied; and
- Date and time information for each request.
Cookies and Similar Storage
Cookies may be used to measure how visitors move through the site and to support features or advertising. You can block or remove cookies through browser settings. Some functions may work differently when cookies are disabled.
How Information Is Used
Collected information is used only for site operations and related services. It may help us:
- Keep pages available, responsive, and secure;
- Send search requests to the selected partner service;
- Understand which Martin County record pages visitors find useful;
- Locate, investigate, and correct technical failures; and
- Present advertising that may reflect general interests.
Privacy Beyond This Website
Links may lead to the Bertie–Martin Regional Jail, Martin County Sheriff, North Carolina Department of Adult Correction, eCourts, NC SAVAN/VINELink, federal custody locators, or outside search services. Once you follow a link, the destination’s privacy notice and data practices apply. North Carolina government access to public records is governed in part by G.S. Chapter 132, but that law does not make this private site the custodian of an agency record.
Some advertising partners can recognize activity across different websites for interest-based advertising. That tracking occurs through their systems and technologies, not through an official Martin County or corrections record system. Use the partner’s privacy controls or browser settings to manage those choices.
Parties That May Receive Data
We do not sell personal data. Limited information may nevertheless be handled by service providers or disclosed under legal process:
- Search partners that process information entered into their tools;
- Analytics providers that measure site performance and use;
- Advertising networks that deliver or measure ads; and
- Law enforcement or another government body acting under a valid subpoena, court order, warrant, or other binding legal demand.
Reasonable Security Measures
We use ordinary administrative and technical safeguards suited to a public website. No internet transmission, storage service, or connected system can be guaranteed secure against every threat. We therefore cannot promise that information will never be accessed, changed, lost, or disclosed without authorization.
Visitors Under Eighteen
This site is intended for adults and does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. A parent or guardian who believes a minor submitted personal data may use the Contacts page to request review and deletion.
Your Privacy Choices
Depending on the law that applies to you and the information we hold, you may ask us to:
- Provide a copy of your personal data;
- Correct inaccurate information;
- Delete information that is eligible for erasure; or
- Stop or limit certain forms of processing.
These choices concern data held by this private site. Requests about a jail entry, NCDAC offender record, court case, VINELink account, BOP record, or ICE locator result must go to the service or government custodian that holds it.
Changes to This Notice
We may revise this Privacy Notice as services, legal duties, or data practices change. The updated version becomes effective when posted here with a revised effective date. Reviewing this page from time to time is the best way to see the current terms.
